Become a Class "A" Volunteer

To become an approved Class A Volunteer the following 3 steps listed below must be completed.  The following are examples of Class A Volunteer Opportunities currently available.

Completing these steps make you eligible to become:

  • Coach
  • Assistant Coach
  • Local Team Volunteer
  • Leadership Mentor
  • Athlete Leadership University Facilitator
  • Unified Sports Partner
  • Fundraising Event
  • Public Relations
  • Games Management Team
  • Photographer/Videographer

3 Steps to Become a Class “A” Volunteer

  1. Complete and submit the Class “A” Volunteer Application.
    • Please read carefully and completely the first page of the Application.
    • By completing this application you are authorizing Special Olympics Rhode Island to complete a National Background check for those 18 years of age and older and the required reference check for those under 18 years of age.
    • Completing this application is required every THREE years.
  2. Complete the online SORI Volunteer Orientation Training and submit its quiz.
    • ONLY required once during continued involvement with Special Olympics Rhode Island.
  3. Complete the online Special Olympics Inc. Protective Behaviors Course.
    • Required every THREE years when volunteer form is renewed.
