Ongoing Volunteer

Become an Ongoing Volunteer (Class A):

Volunteers play a critical role with Special Olympics Rhode Island. Individuals who participate in ongoing volunteer positions help to build a foundation for acceptance, respect, and inclusion for all. Roles range from long-term coaching, Unified Sports partners, organizing sport competitions and fundraising events.  There are a number of opportunities for you to help with a local team or statewide programming.

Current Volunteer Needs

  • Unified Partners for all sports
    • Unified Sports Partners are athletes without intellectual disabilities who train and compete in sports alongside their peers with intellectual disabilities
  • Assistant Coaches
    • Special Olympics Rhode Island teams need help with organizing practices, games, and competitions. You can help ensure every athlete has an exceptional experience!
  • Sports Coaches
    • Ever dream about coaching and learning more about sports such as basketball, bowling, soccer, or softball? Consider coaching a specific sport for a season!
