Get ready—Southern Area Qualifiers for Athletics (Track & Field) are just around the corner! 🏃‍♀️✨ Join us on May 2nd at Bishop Hendricken High School for an exciting day where athletes will take the track and field to record their times and marks as we prepare for Summer Games. 

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make the day a success, with morning and afternoon shifts available—bring a friend and be part of something meaningful!

Track Clerking (Morning and afternoon available) 

AM: 8:30am-12:30pm, PM: 12:00pm-4:00pm

Volunteers help check athletes in, organize heats, line participants up correctly, and guide them to the starting area—making sure everyone is where they need to be and ready to go!  

Track Finish Line Escorts (morning and afternoon available) 

AM: 8:30am-12:30pm, PM: 12:00pm-4:00pm

Receive athletes in their lane at the finish line, escort them off the track and to their designated area for coach pick-up 

Track Finish Line Timers (morning and afternoon available) 

AM: 8:30am-12:30pm, PM: 12:00pm-4:00pm

Time the athletes during their race!

 

 

 

 

 

Field Running Long Jump (afternoon only!) 

1:00pm-4:00pm

Officiate, rake, measure, and record the event for the athletes. 

Shot Put Circle (afternoon only!) 

1:00pm-4:00pm

Record and measure athlete distances.

Measure and record athlete’s throws, Turbojac, Softball Toss, and Developmental Softball Toss.

Many short-term/event volunteer opportunities require no sport specific knowledge and those that do would be noted on the specific event volunteer registration form.
Due to the nature of sports and athletics, Special Olympics Rhode Island events are fast paced and may involve possible risks associated with a specific sport. For this reason, all volunteers must be at least 16 years of age or older to volunteer unless otherwise noted.
