Volunteer Roles
Volunteers play a critical role with Special Olympics Rhode Island. Individuals who volunteer positions help to build a foundation for acceptance, respect, and inclusion for all. There are several opportunities for you to help with a local team or statewide programming:
Event Volunteer
Help on game days with tasks like setting up fields, registering participants, handing out awards, or helping where needed.
Play on the same sports teams as Special Olympics athletes to promote teamwork and inclusion.

Traditional Soccer Tournament
Centreville Bank Stadium, Pawtucket
Help us make our Traditional Soccer Tournament a fun and welcoming day for all athletes! Volunteers will assist with scorekeeping, shagging balls, cheering on athletes, directing participants, and more. No soccer experience required—just bring your energy and enthusiasm!
Golf Skills Tournament
Buttonhole Golf Course — Providence, RI
Join us for a fun day of golf and help create an encouraging and memorable experience for all of our athletes. Volunteers will support the tournament by assisting at skills stations, keeping score, cheering on athletes, and helping with other event-day activities as needed. No golf experience is required, just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to support our athletes.

Flag Football Skills Qualifier
Cranston League for Cranston’s Future (CLCF)—Cranston, RI
Join us at CLCF for a fun, skills-focused flag football qualifier. Volunteers will facilitate skills-based rotations and help keep score as participants showcase their abilities in receiving, passing, rushing, and flag pulling, keeping the event organized, encouraging, and running smoothly throughout the day.
