Ongoing Volunteer

Become an Ongoing Volunteer (Class A):

Volunteers play a critical role with Special Olympics Rhode Island. Individuals who participate in ongoing volunteer positions help to build a foundation for acceptance, respect, and inclusion for all. Roles range from long-term coaching, Unified Sports partners, organizing sport competitions and fundraising events.  There are a number of opportunities for you to help with a local team or statewide programming.

Current Volunteer Needs

Unified Partners are needed for the following sports:

3v3 Unified Basketball
Location: Citizens Bank Campus
Time: Thursday nights from 6-8pm
Dates: June 27, July 11, 18, 25, Aug 1, 8
Some knowledge of basketball is preferred.

Unified Softball
Games are played on Monday nights at various fields throughout the state.
Time: Vary from 6pm to 6:30pm and 7:45pm
Dates: July 8, 15, 22, 29, Aug 5, 12
Some knowledge of softball is preferred.

Unified Golf
Location: Button Hole in Providence
Time: Tuesday nights at 5pm
Dates: July 9, 16, 23, 30, Aug 6
Some knowledge of golf is preferred.

Golf Volunteers
Volunteers are also needed to work with beginner level golfers at the putting greens and driving range.
Location: Button Hole in Providence
Time: Tuesday nights at 5:30-7:30pm.
Dates: July 9, 16, 23, 30, Aug 6

Unified Tennis
Location: Rally Point Racquet Club, Greenville
Time: Sunday afternoons, 2-3:30pm
Dates: September & October
Some knowledge of tennis is preferred.

Unified Flag Football
Location: Cranston
Time: Sunday mornings, 10am-12pm
Dates: September & October
Some knowledge of football is preferred.

Unified Basketball
Locations: Seekonk, North Kingstown & South Kingstown
Time: Wednesday nights (Game times vary)
Dates: October & November
Some knowledge of basketball is preferred.
