RETURN TO PLAY GUIDELINES
Special Olympics Rhode Island is happy to announce that we will begin Phase 2 of our “Return to Play” programs. All decisions for this phase continue to be made with the safety of our athletes, unified partners, families, coaches and volunteers in mind. Our safety measures and protocols follow the recommendations and guidelines of Special Olympics, Inc., Center for Disease Control (CDC), Rhode Island Department of Health, the State of Rhode Island and the SORI Board of Directors and will be monitored throughout the season. The health and safety of everyone involved with Special Olympics Rhode Island is our top priority, as it was in Phase 1.
During “Return to Play – Phase 2”, Special Olympics Rhode Island will be functioning under the Phase One COVID-19 guidelines for the sports being offered. All athletes will remain in Phase One for the sports/activities that they are participating in, unless it is deemed necessary to drop to a more restrictive stage.
Sports/Activities that will be offered during “Return to Play – Phase 2” will be Unified Basketball Skills Camp, Unified Bocce, Unified Corn Hole, Unified Hiking and “Workout Wednesdays” (a six-week dance program). Participation is completely optional and we respect, understand and fully support anyone who is unable to or uncomfortable returning to practice for the sports/activities being offered.
Additional information with specific guidelines for each sport being offered is provided below along with Return to Play Videos and Education Resources.
Any questions regarding our Return to Play Guidelines, please contact Chris Hopkins, Director of Programs at firstname.lastname@example.org
