What team do you participate on?
The Lincoln North Stars. I have been a member of this team for 22 years.
What sports do you compete in?
Golf, Bowling, Snowshoeing, and Track & Field. The sport I enjoy the most is snowshoeing because I am pretty good at it, I love being outside, and I really enjoy the people involved in this sport.
Where did you go to school?
Lincoln High School. I graduated in 2007.
Do you have a job? If so, tell us about it.
I do not currently have a job. The type of job that I would like to have is to work with young children.
Why did you choose to participate in the Athlete Leadership University (ALU)?
I chose to participate in ALU because I thought the skills I would learn would be helpful in becoming an assistant coach.
What have you accomplished through your involvement with ALU?
ALU helped me with my leadership and listening skills and to be a more patient person. Gaining these skills helped me become an assistant coach for the Lincoln North Stars Basketball team. What I like the most about this role is the opportunity to help my fellow athletes become better basketball players and to cheer them up when a game is not going well.
What do you enjoy doing for fun?
I enjoy seeing a lot of my friends from Special Olympics, doing arts & crafts, and taking an art class at Generations where I make different things every day and where I have made new friends. I also like to play games, bake, shop, and go out with my Mom for lunch on Fridays.
Is there anything else about yourself that you would like to share?
I am an auntie of two boys. My nephew Marshall is 10 years old and my nephew Nathan is 8 years old. I have a boyfriend – his name is Steven and we have been dating for 2 years.
