First-Time Super Plunger

What prompted you to get involved in the Super Plunge for Special Olympics Rhode Island (SORI) this year?
I have always been inspired by the dedication, perseverance, and spirit of Special Olympics athletes. Their determination to overcome challenges is a true testament to resilience and hard work. I first learned about the Super Plunge through my involvement with law enforcement and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), which has a strong partnership with Special Olympics. Seeing the impact that this event has on the athletes and the community motivated me to take on the challenge of becoming a Super Plunger this year.

What do you hope to achieve through your participation in the 2025 Super Plunge for Special Olympics Rhode Island?
My goal is to raise awareness and funds to support Special Olympics Rhode Island and its athletes. I want to help provide opportunities for these incredible individuals to compete, grow, and reach their full potential. Additionally, I hope my participation encourages others to push beyond their comfort zones and support a cause greater than themselves.

Given that you’ll be plunging into icy waters every hour for 24 hours straight, are you taking any steps to prepare for this initiative?
Yes, I’m mentally preparing for the challenge by focusing on the bigger purpose behind the event – supporting Special Olympics athletes. Most importantly, I’m embracing the camaraderie of my fellow plungers, knowing we’ll get through it together.

What message would you like to share with members of the public about your commitment to the Super Plunge and the athletes of Special Olympics Rhode Island?
Special Olympics athletes embody determination, heart, and courage, and they deserve our full support. By taking on the Super Plunge, I hope to highlight their incredible achievements and the impact that Special Olympics Rhode Island has on their lives. Anyone can support this initiative – whether by donating, cheering us on, or spreading the word. Every little bit helps.

Aside from the Super Plunge, are you involved with Special Olympics Rhode Island in any other way?
Yes, through Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) events, I’ve had the privilege of supporting Special Olympics Rhode Island in various ways. LETR plays a crucial role in fundraising and spreading awareness for Special Olympics, and I’m proud to be part of that effort.

Anything else you’d like to add about the Super Plunge or Special Olympics Rhode Island?
I’m honored to take part in the 2025 Super Plunge, knowing that every icy dive brings more support and opportunities to Special Olympics Rhode Island athletes. Their passion and perseverance inspire us all, and I encourage everyone to get involved in any way they can. Whether it’s donating, volunteering, or simply showing up to cheer, your support makes a difference. Let’s make this year’s plunge the most successful yet!
