Summer Games Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with us!

Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics Rhode Island. If you are seeking a volunteer opportunity that can make a difference in your life and the lives of others, then look no further.  Special Olympics Rhode Island needs you! When you volunteer with Special Olympics Rhode Island you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact.  Please consider volunteering at our State Summer Games on May 30, 31 and June 1 at the University of Rhode Island, it is an experience you’ll be destined to remember forever.  Volunteers for the State Summer Games must be 16 and older unless otherwise specified.

2025 Summer Games Field Running Long Jump
Date: Friday, 5/30/2025
Location: Mackal Field House, University of Rhode Island
Time: 11:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Duties: Officiate, rake, measure, and record the event for the athletes.

Date: Saturday, May 31, 2025
Location: Mackal Field House, University of Rhode Island
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Duties: Escorting athletes from the competition area to awards.

Duties: Manage stations and escort athletes from station to station in the soccer skills competition.

Time: 9:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Duties: You will be assigned to one of the following: Assisting athletes on their bowling lanes, Escorting athletes from lanes to awards area, Assisting in the awards area.

Date: Friday, May 30, 2025
Location: Olympic Village Entryway, University of Rhode Island
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Duties: Welcome and cheer athletes on the red carpet.

Date: Saturday, 5/31/2025
Location: Throughout Campus, University of Rhode Island
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Duties: Watch and cheer athletes on at the different venues.

Location: Olympic Village, University of Rhode Island
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Duties: Athletes and their assistants who have their own businesses or personal hobbies have the opportunity to showcase them in Olympic Village at our Summer Games. Volunteer to assist them!
