Hello everyone!

I just wanted to check in and let you all know that myself, and everyone at SORI, is here for you! Everywhere we look nowadays there is something about the coronavirus.
It can be scary and overwhelming because we don’t know what is going to happen, it can cause anger because many of the events and things that we were looking forward
to in the upcoming months are cancelled, it can cause confusion because our normal daily schedule has been turned on its head, and I want you to know that it is OKAY to
feel these feelings! There are lots of people around you that want to help you and will help you through this tough time and YOU can be important to helping someone else
get through this time as well. Right now the best thing we can do is listen to what the health professionals out there are saying, stay home if possible for the time being to
limit exposure to the virus, and continue taking care of our bodies by eating right and getting daily exercise.

I know it seems difficult to get your normal workout in right now especially with local gyms closed and not being able to gather in groups to exercise. One thing you can do is
take advantage of all the beautiful weather we’ve been having and take a walk around your neighborhood. It will get you out of the house and into the fresh air, and really
benefit both your body and your mind. Another thing you can do is look up workout videos and other resources online. However, the problem with a lot of these videos
is that they do not always take into account that some people have different ability levels or challenges with balance, mobility, etc.

To help make workouts at home more available to our athletes during this time, I will be doing workouts via Facebook Live every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6pm!
Please make sure to “like” the Special Olympics Rhode Island Facebook page to get notifications about our live videos. I think this will be a great way for all of us to get together
virtually and spread some positive vibes all while breaking a sweat and staying healthy. Please spread the word about these workouts and I hope you are able to join me!
If you do not have Facebook, we will be sending out a weekly recap email via Constant Contact with links to the workout videos along with any other health notes and tips
that come up during the week.

Please reach out if you have any questions via email at stephanie@specialolympicsri.org and I hope to see you virtually next week!

In health,
Steph
