Football (Soccer)

Soccer

Events offered are 5 a-side team competition and individual skills competition which involved a series of skills stations….dribbling, shooting, running and kicking.  Teams participate in an 8 week league play format.  Training begins in late August.  State Tournament is held annually in October at Colt State Park in Bristol.

Bocce

Bocce

Bocce is an Italian game. The basic principle of the sport is to roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball, which is called a palina. Bocce as a Special Olympics sport provides people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to have social contact, develop physically and to gain self-confidence. Next to soccer and golf, bocce is the third most participated sport in the world.

Unified Basketball

Unified Basketball

League play is held on Wednesday nights at various locations throughout Rhode Island.  Athletes of all ability levels are welcome to participate with their local teams in league play.  Unified Competition is conducted in full-court basketball.  Teams are evaluated during the season and will be division based on level of play for the State Tournament will is held at Providence College in early December.

Duck-pin Bowling

Local teams conduct weekly training in preparation for the State Tournament held at Town Hall Lanes in Johnston.  Excellent sport for athletes of lower ability levels.  Events offered are for teams of 4 bowlers. State Tournaments are held for Junior and Senior levels.

Flag Football

Unified 5 a-side flag football team league play is held on Sunday mornings during the Fall at Whipple Field in Smithfield. Teams will be divisioned by ability level for the Fall Festival at Bryant University in November.

Tennis

Tennis

Training begins in late August on Saturday mornings from 10:00am – 12:00pm, with a tournament being held in late October.  Competition is offered in singles, doubles and in individual skills competition. Sport is offered as traditional and unified.
